Lena Contreras
    L ena is a graduate of the University of California Davis with a Bachelors in human development and a Masters in community development.  While at the University, she participated in several student organizations including the disabled students union and CALPIRG.  She had several internships while completing her degrees, including at the Sacramento Society for the Blind and the California Foundation of Independent Living Centers.  One of her most enjoyable internships was one bringing science into the classroom in elementary schools.

    Currently Lena is active in several ministries at her church including the society of St. Vincent de Paul, Lazarus ministry, scripture studies, and rcia program where she mentors people coming into the Catholic Church. Lena is involved with the yolo County guide dog puppy raising group.
    Lena teaches a Pineneedle basketmaking class at the Davis Senior center on Monday mornings and was one of the artists featured in an art show showcasing artists with disabilities. She has sold several baskets on Commission.

    Lena has been a Davis residence is starting college in 1993. She enjoys the cities walk ability and makes use of the public transportation system.
